Romano turned the page and gazed down into the next page in the book. Slowly, the soft pink edges began to emerge on the paper, only to then separate and hover above the parchment. Romano gently twirled the cube with a fingertip, rotating it side to side and end over end. You understand, he said after some time, each letter of the angels is a living duplicate of the other, yet uniquely aware of its single purpose to be what it is. Nothing more. He placed a finger on the cube, slowing its rotation. Nothing less.
